Here is the trap of December: every genuinely personal gift closed its door around the 15th. Engraved things, photo books, embroidery, framed prints, anything a human has to make and a van has to carry. Miss those dates and the internet suddenly offers you a scented candle with next-day delivery, which everyone in the room will correctly identify as panic.
The way out is not to shop faster. It is to switch categories: the gifts that stay good when you are late are the ones that are not objects in transit. Here they are, ranked by how much time you have left.
Full transparency: this is what our studio does. Take a photo of them (or of their kids, or their dog), pick a style, and about a minute later you have a Renaissance or Baroque oil portrait with their face faithfully theirs. Ninth Salon delivers it as a file you can show on a phone or a tablet on Christmas morning, print at home, or turn into a proper canvas that arrives in January as a second wave of the same gift. You see the result before paying anything, which matters more at 11pm on the 24th than at any other hour of the year.

Gift cards read as lazy when they are generic. They read as attentive when they are absurdly specific: the tiny bookshop they love, the climbing gym, the plant place. Specificity is the whole trick.
Our own honest deadline: a printed canvas takes 5 to 7 business days, so ordering by December 15th arrives in time and ordering on the 20th does not.
